A man who was wanted in Guyana for the March, 2020 murder of a Rosignol businessman was stabbed to death in Suriname on Saturday evening after he was involved in an argument with a man who reportedly owed him money.

In March, 2020, Guyana’s police force had released a wanted bulletin for brothers Medellin Orlando Evans called ‘Mello,’ and Carlos Evans, also known as ‘Beast,’ 28, in relation to the murder of Rosignol businessman, Tony Bishnauth, at Carriage Road, Rosignol, West Bank Berbice.

Bishnauth, also known as ‘Uncle Tony’ and ‘England Man’, 78, of Cotton Tree Village, West Coast Berbice, operated ‘Sandra’s Snack-ette’ at the Rosignol Stelling Road, and was fatally shot in the region of his right ear during a robbery at the snackette.  Several other persons who were present celebrating the deceased’s 78th birthday were also shot and injured during the robbery.

However, Suriname’s news entity Waterkant yesterday reported that Evans died in a stabbing on the Hoogestraat in Suriname on Saturday evening.

According to the publication, Evans got into an argument with the suspect, identified as Quinten M. It was noted that the suspect had allegedly owed Evans some money, which he was demanding. However, after the suspect refused to pay Evans reportedly pulled out a handgun and attempted to discharge a round.

It was further noted in the report that after “the gun did not fire,” the suspect then used a sharp object to stab Evans multiple times about his body.

The suspect was subsequently arrested at a fishing company in the Livorno Resort. “The investigation, in this case, has been transferred to the Capital Offences Department,” the report noted.
