It was announced by the responsible ministry that distribution of Old Age Pension Books for 2023 will commence in August, but this did not happen, nor did it happen in September. We are now in October and there still has been no advisory on this matter. Can the relevant authorities shed some light and advise when distribution of the 2023 pension books will commence?
Staying with old age pension, the aborted practice of encashing the next month’s voucher at the end of the preceding month, (this was a Covid measure), serious consideration should be given to reinstituting the practice, which was helpful, beneficial and advantageous, not to mention convenient to this category of citizens. It just seems inconsiderate that one might be at the post office or other agency, where the voucher can be encashed, on the 30th or 31st of the month, but because the voucher for the new month can only be encashed on the 1st or first working day of the month, that the pensioner has to return. In this Month of the Elderly please spare a thought in this regard to the elderly pensioners.
