A pure ounce of Guyana’s world famous gold will go to the winner of the Urban Benjamin Memorial road race which rides off tomorrow on the streets of Essequibo.

The event which is a collaborative effort involving Team KFC Evolution and Conrad Gomes, is expected to attract the cream of the nation’s riders.

Jamual John who easily won the last two cycle races in the 592 will start as the favorite and will be the man to watch in the peloton.

Other standout riders like Team KFC’s trio, Curtis Dey, Paul DeNobrega and Christopher Griffith will also be gunning for the gold as will Romello Crawford, Briton John, Alex Mendes and Kemuel Moses. 

Tomorrow’s event is scheduled to get off to a flying start at 07:30hrs. The almost 70-mile trek will see the riders throttling from Charity to Supenaam and back.

A thrilling day of racing is on the cards in the Cinderella County.

For cyclists and officials interested in transportation, a bus and a truck will be at the Burnham Basketball Court at the corner of Middle and Carmichael Streets from 7:30 am this morning for an 8:30am departure.

Registration for the annual event will be held today at 1pm.
