Sterling Products, Petra Organisation on board with Courts Pee Wee U11 football

Sterling Products Limited has officially partnered with the Petra Organization as a sponsor to aid in the successful staging of the 9th Courts Pee Wee Boys U11 Football Championship.

This was confirmed yesterday during a presentation ceremony staged at the entity’s East Bank Demerara headquarters.

Petra Organisation Co-Director Troy Mendonca stated that in order for sports to advance, partnerships with private entities and government are required. He said that to have the sponsorship of Sterling Products on board for this venture is a proud moment for the organization.

“They will enjoy being involved in the programme as over 300 kids will be at the venue for the next seven Saturdays and it will provide a platform for them to enjoy themselves through the sport of football,” said Mendonca.

He expressed appreciation to the company for coming on board and sharing the vision of having football played from U11 to U18 levels, adding that hopefully in the future, the tournament can be expanded to other regions with the assistance of the Government, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport and the GFF.

Meanwhile, Dellon Lynch, Marketing Manager of Sterling Products Ltd, said that the company is proud to be a part of the tournament adding that the entity views the development of young boys during the event as vital.

He said that the company stands as a strong sponsor of the tournament behind the Petra Organization, who have done an exceptional job in creating and maintaining a wonderful developmental initiative.

“I wish the teams the best of luck and hope that in the years to come that many more schools will be a part of the tournament,” he declared.

Meanwhile, the tournament will commence today at the Ministry of Education ground with the opening round of fixtures.

At 11:00hrs, Sophia will oppose Victoria, while Colaaco engages Winfer Garden, whilst at 11:50hrs, Den Amstel tackles St. Pius, and Craig tackles Enterprise. F.E. Pollard will battle Soesdyke while Marian Academy will match skills with Timehri at 12:40hrs, with Ann’s Grove opposing Graham Hall, and Mocha facing off with St. Agnes at 13:30hrs.

The event features 22 teams competing in an initial round-robin format.

The top two finishers from each section and the four best third-placed teams will advance to the elimination round. The respective losers in the knockout section will progress to the plate division to battle for positions 5-16.

Group-A consists of Ann’s Grove, Craig, Enterprise, and Graham Hall, whilst group-B contains F.E. Pollard, North Georgetown, Redeemer, and Soesdyke, and group-C features Den Amstel, Mocha, St. Agnes, and St. Pius.

Group-D comprises Colaaco, St. Stephen’s, West Ruimveldt, Winfer Garden, while group-B is made up of Marian Academy, St. Margaret’s, Timehri, and group-F feature Sophia, Tucville, and Victoria. The event will conclude on November 19th. All matches will be held at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

The winner of the tournament will receive the championship trophy, gold medals, and a pair of uniforms. Each player will also be presented with an electronic tablet.

On the other hand, the runners-up will collect a trophy, silver medals, and six balls. Meanwhile, the third-place finisher will pocket a trophy, and four balls while the fourth-place side will walk away with a trophy.

On the individual side, a trophy and a pair of football cleats will be presented to the eventual Most Valuable Player, Highest Goal Scorer, and Best Goalkeeper.
