Weldaad representative wins Miss Regional Division Five Police Scout pageant

Quayana Hetymia, who represented the community of Weldaad in Region Five (Mahaica- Berbice) is now Miss Regional Division Five Police Scout Queen. At a pageant held last Saturday at the Mahaicony Technical Institute, the newly crowned queen also won the Miss Congeniality prize.

According to a statement on the Guyana Police Force Facebook page, Quayana was one of the seven young women who competed, representing various communities in Regional Division Five. They were judged on their posture, poise, portrayal of elegance, tone, confidence, stage space, pronunciation and enunciation, proper use of grammar, and most importantly the way they responded about if they were to be crowned queen.

They were also required to make presentations on their selected platforms which included social issues such as teenage pregnancy, domestic violence, peer pressure, substance abuse and food security.

Arianna Fraser, who represented Fort Wellington, was the first runner-up and Sarah Sharpe of Blairmont was second runner-up. Alicia Sutherland, who represented Mahaicony, was judged as  the “Most Improved Delegate”, the release said. The award for Best Gown went to Jonessa Duke who represented Regional Division Five Headquarters, while Angel Ellis of Hopetown secured the Best Smile prize. Capriana Outar of Mora Point was the seventh participant.

The judges were Hernestine Wade (chief), Otecia Quintyn, Natasha Webster and Aub Huriarah.
