A combined effort by lawmen in Berbice on Friday resulted in the discovery of four acres of cannabis plants and a makeshift tent in a Canje River location.

The joint operation was carried out by ranks attached to the Guyana Police Force and the Guyana Defence Force (Coast Guard) at Calabash Creek, Canje River, where the four acres of cannabis plants, measuring from six inches to five feet in height, one make- shift tent, farming tools and a water pump were discovered.

A statement from the Guyana Police Force noted that approximately 4,500 cannabis plants weighing about 600 kilogrammes were found and destroyed along with the camp.

Although no arrest were made at the location, an investigation has been launched.
