Dear Editor,
It took a letter for an explanation and apology why the Wai-Wai Community was not served the ‘Because We Care’ cash grant (SN October 9). Weeks after school has reopened and months after others received the grant it is only now being stated that the community was not in receipt of the grant because of logistical and other issues. This is unacceptable and an embarrassment and smacks of disrespect.
An explanation and apology should have been offered to the community before now. It did not have to take a letter for this to happen and then do damage control. The ministry is in reactive mode.
