Cop succumbs after accident at Enmore

A police constable succumbed to his injuries yesterday morning, days after he was seriously injured in an accident at Enmore, East Coast Demerara Public Road.

Dead is Constable 23670 Roger Clinton Bowen. He was attached to the Cove and John Police station.

Reports are that the accident occurred around 6.30 am last Friday. Bowen succumbed around 6.30 am yesterday whilst receiving medical attention at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH).

Stabroek News understands that Bowen was heading home on a motorcycle when he collided with a car.

He sustained head injuries during the accident and was in the High Dependency Unit until he passed away. It is unclear whether Bowen was wearing a safety helmet at the time of the accident.

The driver of the car was arrested and subsequently placed on station bail as the investigation continues.

Bowen’s body is currently at the hospital mortuary awaiting an autopsy.
