Add another first place trophy to the palmares of star cyclist, Jamaul John.

The dominance of the Team Foundation standout continued yesterday with his fourth straight win on the local circuit.

The 25-year-old wheelsman bested a star-studded field to take the top honors of the feature16-lap event of the first annual Randolph ‘Duckie’ Singh Memorial race on the outer circuit of the National Park.

John and his breakaway mate, Briton John broke away from the peloton in the initial lap of  ‘crit’ event and never let off the throttle.

In the brilliant sunshine, the duo went on to scorch the field by having a two-man race of their own, sharing the eight sprint prizes equally.

The pair of Johns (no relation) rode saddle-to-saddle until the final 300 metres. At this point Briton started the sprint but Jamual, the superior sprinter, changed gear and barreled to the line, leaving Briton about six bike lengths behind.

Jamual has been undefeated since returning from racing on the US circuit last month, winning the Victor Macedo Memorial, the Kaieteur Attack Fireworks event and the Urban Benjamin Memorial, all in dominant fashion.

He credited his dominance here to competing with a high calibre of riders while in the USA.

He also stated that the support from USA based Team Foundation and DeSinco Trading have immensely impacted his performance.

Other winners yesterday included: Clavecia Spencer (female), Robin Persaud (veteran U-50), Talim Shaw (veteran O-50)Mario Washington (junior), Ajani Cutting (juveniles) and David Mangru (BMX).

The event was sponsored by Sybil’s Restaurant, Neville Hunte, Keith Massey, Shaquel Agard, Quality Medical Lab and others including the Flying Stars Cycle Club of which Singh was a former President.

Singh passed away last November at age 69 following a prolonged illness. Known for his generosity to athletes from various disciplines, he was the proprietor of Duckie’s General Store located on Russell and Sussex streets in Charlestown.

USA based cyclists, Bruce Camacho, Aubrey Gordon, Cecil Bernard, Cyril Hunte and Randolph Toussaint along with former Mayor, Hamilton Green, a personal friend of Singh’s was also in attendance and helped to distribute prizes.

The cycling calendar continues today from 08:00hrs in the National Park with the Flying Stars members staging an event to celebrate the Club’s 50th anniversary. John will be gunning to earn a handful of wins on the trot.
