Worsening traffic congestion at Eping Ave and Vlissengen Road will likely result in citizens’ protest

Dear Editor,

I have been a resident of Bel Air Park, Georgetown for 50 years (1972-2022) and I have never experienced the traffic congestion that occurs at the corner of Eping Avenue & Vlissengen Road, Georgetown. I, therefore, would like to endorse, in its entirety, the letter by Ms. Melissa Lewis published in the Saturday, 29th issue of the Stabroek news.

About 3 ½ weeks ago I had a telephonic conversation with a representative of the fast food establishment and he promised to speak to his boss in order to take corrective action. I explained that I was ridiculed, including the use of expletives, by a patron when I protested the blocking of my way going west along Eping Ave to Vlissengen Road. Since I spoke to the representative the situation has gotten worse.

I think and I repeat Ms. Lewis comments a) Where are the traffic police? b) Can anyone arbitrarily exercise power through affluence? c) How could they ignore such a blatant disregard for the law? This demonstration of lawlessness has to stop or else, we the residents of Bel Air Park, will protest vigorously until immediate corrective action is taken.

Sincerely,

D.Sawh
