Residents fear being run over ever since Eping Ave is now being used as a two way shortcut

Dear Editor,

I am requesting the Minister and the Traffic Chief to visit the traffic nuisance now created in Eping Avenue since the Sheriff Road has been completed. Eping Ave, a narrower road than Duncan Street is now being used as a two way shortcut to Vlissengen Road from Sherriff Road.  Horse carts, minibuses, trucks, motorcycles, all kinds of cars honking, some blaring music that cause the alarm systems in parked cars to go off; all jostle each other to roar down this narrow street which was never intended to accommodate this volume of traffic.   Much to the annoyance of residents. You cannot hear yourself on the phone and the TV must be at a high volume for you to hear in your own house.

I am asking that Duncan Street be reverted to two way traffic. It is a much wider road that has been refurbished which can easily now be conveniently used for two way traffic and let this neighbourhood return to some semblance of order and quietude. Residents must be able to walk on their roads without fear of being run over or have people honking for them to get off their very own street to allow loud and crude to splash dirty water all over them and have a free reign of chaos.

Sincerely,

Hema Persaud
