GDF runs away with road race relay title

The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) once again ran away with the first place trophy when the Inter-Services road relay event was staged on Sunday morning.

Propelled from a fast start by Matthew Gordon, and strong runs by Marlon Nicholson, Odwin Tudor, Devaun Barrington and Tia Azore, the five-member outfit relegated their counterparts by a wide margin.

The race started at the Felix Austin Police College, proceeded to UG road before returning to the Guyana Police Force (GPF) Headquarters for the finish.

GPF’s team finished second and the Guyana Fire Service completed the podium.

The Guyana Prison Service finished in fourth, while the City Constabulary were locked in the cellar in fifth.

Chief of Staff, Brigadier Godfrey Bess and Commissioner of Police (Ag), Clifton Hicken were in attendance and congratulated the athletes for competing for their respective teams.
