President says Hague road will benefit from $275m upgrading

President Irfaan Ali on Tuesday told residents of Hague, West Coast Demerara that their road will be improved with $275m to be spent on repairs.

A statement from the Office of the President said that Ali assured residents of the Government’s investment during a community meeting. He said the road will be completely repaired, with 250 metres of revetment works expected to be done.

He also added that the Government, through the Ministries of Agriculture and Public Works, will work to repair the roads in the community to provide better access to over 500 acres of farmland. This, he said, is intended to improve the community’s agriculture capabilities.

During the meeting, the President listened to the residents’ concerns and queries and provided on-the-spot solutions, the statement said.

Minister of Agriculture, Zulfikar Mustapha; Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation,  Hugh Todd; Minister within the Ministry of Public Works, Deodat Indar and other Government officials were also in the West Coast of Demerara community.
