Western Tigers defeat Police 3-1, advance to semi-final round of G/town Football Association Super-8 Knockout C/ship

Western Tigers earned their berth to the semi-final round in the Georgetown Football Association Super-8 Knockout Championship, defeating the Guyana Police Force 3-1 in extra time on Wednesday evening at the Georgetown Football Club ground, Bourda.

Following a score-less first half, Jemar Harrigon secured the initial lead for the lawmen in the 83rd minute. The lead proved to be short-lived, as Eusi Phillips equalised three minutes later.

Malachi Granum then made his presence felt, etching his name on the scorer’s sheet in the 105th minute. The score-line was then sealed in the 120th minute, as Jermaine Beckles scored.

In the earlier match, the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) defeated GT Panthers via walkover. The event continues on Sunday at the same venue with another round of matches. At 17:00hrs, the hosts GFC will oppose GDF, while the feature contest will pit Santos against Western Tigers at 19:00hrs.
