In observation of National Road Safety month, Yesi Consultancy on Friday donated 100 traffic wands and 10 first aid kits to the Guyana Police Force (GPF).

Minister of Home Affairs, Robeson Benn and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Mae Thomas received the donation, which was then handed over to Commissioner of Police (ag), Clifton Hicken.

In a press release yesterday, the Ministry said that the items will aid the GPF’s Traffic Department.

According to the statement, Hicken said that the donation will assist with force significantly in increasing awareness for road safety to be everyone’s business.

Meanwhile, Traffic Chief Dennis Stephen noted that the items will be utilised across the force’s 12 administrative divisions in the 10 regions.

“The donation of the traffic wands will continue to ensure that commuters have a clear sight of movement which is being directed by officers during the evenings and rainy days,” the statement quoted Stephen saying.

This year, national Road Safety month is being observed under the theme “Safe Driving Saves Lives.”
