Parfait Harmonie man stabbed to death in ganja row

A 32-year-old man of La Parfait Harmonie, West Bank Demerara (WBD), Sherwayne Underwood was fatally stabbed at around 3 am yesterday during a fight with another man.

A police report stated that a 29-year-old suspect has been apprehended by police ranks for admitting to stabbing Underwood. The two men were imbibing when they had a misunderstanding after the suspect referred to the marijuana that the deceased was using as “bush weed.”

During the altercation, the suspect punched Underwood to the side of his head and a fight ensued between the two. During the fight, the suspect whipped out a knife and stabbed Underwood once to his abdomen.

After Underwood was stabbed, he ran a short distance away before he collapsed. He was picked up in a conscious state by public-spirited persons and rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he later succumbed to his injury. His body was taken to the Ezekiel Funeral Home where it awaits a post-mortem examination.

The suspect was arrested around 6:30 am yesterday by the police and subsequently gave a video recorded statement under caution, admitting to the crime.
