Ganja row stabbing victim died of perforated liver

The post- mortem examination on the 32-year-old man of Parfait Harmonie, West Bank Demerara (WBD) who was stabbed to death on Tuesday around 3 am in a ganja row has revealed that he died as a result of perforated liver due to a stab wound.

According to a police source, the suspect who was arrested and questioned in relation to the stabbing is to be charged.

The police report on Tuesday stated that the victim, Sherwayne Underwood, and the suspect, a 29-year-old man had a misunderstanding after the suspect referred to the marijuana that Underwood was using as “bush weed.”

During the altercation, the suspect punched Underwood to the side of his head and a fight ensued between the two. During the fight, the suspect whipped out a knife and stabbed Underwood once in his abdomen.

After being stabbed, Underwood ran a short distance away before he collapsed. He was picked up in a conscious state by public-spirited persons and rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he later succumbed to his injury. His body was taken to the Ezekiel Funeral Home to await a post-mortem examination.

The stabbing occurred at Policeman Corner, Parfait Harmonie.
