Liverpool man arrested over assault claim by ex-wife

Lawmen in Region Six yesterday arrested the Liverpool man who is accused of assaulting his ex-wife twice after she separated from him in September following years of alleged abuse.

The accused, Lyndon Richard Parks also known as ‘Lyndie’, 35, of Liverpool Village, Corentyne was arrested yesterday afternoon.

Karen Aneka Althea Mickel, 45, had told Stabroek News on Monday that she entered a relationship with her reputed husband some eighteen years ago and they have a nine-year-old son.

The woman had said that throughout the relationship she has faced constant physical, verbal and emotional abuse. However, in September she was finally able to separate from the man.

She recalled that he would often tell her that one day she’ll reach the “burial ground” as a result of his actions, and that he would not allow any woman to “pass him through court.”

She said that after he learnt of her new location, he began stalking her and visiting her house several days where he would curse her publicly.

According to Karen, several weeks ago she was on the road when the man attacked her and brutally beat her about her body. He also damaged her phone which had pictures of her injuries sustained during previous assaults.

She had said that she filed a report at the Whim Police Station and police even visited the man’s house once in an effort to arrest him but he was nowhere to be found.

Commander of Region Six, Shivpersaud Bacchus last evening confirmed that following the article in yesterday’s Stabroek News he immediately contacted the Whim Police Station to check on the matter but was told that no report was officially filed.

He said they then made contact with the woman and took a report.

Stabroek News was told that the woman was issued a medical form and the suspect was arrested.

She was also told to seek a protection order while the investigation continues.
