(Trinidad Guardian) A 28-year-old prisoner of the Maximum Security Prison (MSP), Port-of-Spain (PoS), appeared virtually today before the Tunapuna Magistrates’ Court, charged with the December 2020 killing of Dhanraj Manan, 50.

Sheldon Walker, formerly of Ste Madeleine, was charged with Murder yesterday by WPC Timothy of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region Two Office, following advice received on Friday 2nd, December, 2022, by Deputy Director of Public Prosecution Joan Honore-Paul.

Walker is scheduled to reappear before the court on January 9th, 2023.

He appeared before the court following the execution of an indictable warrant at the MSP PoS, following investigations into the death of Manan at a prisoner cell at the Tunapuna Police Station on December 27th, 2020.

According to police reports, around 8.16 pm on Sunday 27th December, 2020, police officers were alerted by sounds emanating from the cell.

Upon investigating, they allegedly observed a prisoner, who was detained on Christmas Day, slumped over a toilet bowl who appeared to be unresponsive.

The emergency health services personnel along with the District Medical Officer were contacted and responded.

The investigation was supervised by Assistant Superintendent Douglas and Inspector Ramjag and supported by PCs Joseph and Andrews who continued enquiries into the matter.
