USDA-certified organic chocolate now on the market

A new brand of chocolate confectionery is about to hit the stores in Guyana, compliments of Associated Brands Guyana Inc (ABGI), a subsidiary of Associated Brands Industries Ltd. (ABIL).

ABGI in a release yesterday informed that it would be bringing to the shores for the first time, its organic OCHO Candy. The company says that it will be the sole distributor of OCHO Chocolates Guyana.

Associated Brands Guyana Inc is a leading distributor of chocolates, snacks, biscuits and cereals with years of experience in the Guyanese market. Their brands portfolio includes Charles Chocolates, Sun-shine Snacks, Devon Biscuits and Sunshine Cereals.

According the release, OCHO Chocolates, formerly a US-based confectionery company now acquired by ABIL, are USDA Certified-Organic, non-GMO, Fair-Trade and gluten-free with a Certified-Vegan option. It noted that the brand “is committed to creating scrumptious chocolates with socially and environmentally responsible pro-cesses.” The name OCHO is derived from the words Organic CHOcolate which the company says is its way of honouring “its

delicious taste and innovative spirit.”

ABGI Marketing and Relationship Manager, Jeranzee Marques on welcoming OCHO Chocolates to Guyana stated, “We are thrilled to distribute the first USDA Certified-Organic chocolate brand and we are confident that consumers will find OCHO chocolates to be delightfully scrumptious. Using the finest USDA certified organic fair-trade ingredients, we craft rich and appetizing house-made, small-batch fillings – a difference you can taste in every bite. These chocolates are truly organic which makes it better for you and the environment because What’s inside counts!”

OCHO Chocolates are available in two sizes: OCHO minis which are sold in a pouch, and OCHO bars. The OCHO minis are available in Coconut, Peanut Butter, Caramel and Peppermint, while OCHO bars carry Coconut, Peanut Butter and Caramel with Peanut fillings with the Coconut being 100% Certified-Vegan. There will also be seasonal offerings in the near future.

ABGI is taking the opportunity to provide more health-conscious alternatives for its consumers by introducing an all-natural chocolate product for Guyanese families, the release added.
