HAMILTON, CMC – Undefeated Bermudian welterweight Andre Lambe said he expects his forthcoming American Boxing Organisation title bout against Crisanto Lucio of the United States to be one of the biggest tests of his fledgling career.
The 27-year-old southpaw boxer, affecctionately known as “Showtime”, will meet the Mexican-American on January 28 at the Shed in Dockyard in a match between two rookies with an eye on bigger prizes.
“I am always excited to get ready and put on a show,” Lambe told The Royal Gazette newspaper. “I am just ready for fight night.
“Everything has been gong really good. I have had a great camp so far.
“I have been working on our game plan, and I am executing that pretty good in the gym so fitness and everything is there.”
Lambe is undefeated in six professional bouts with five of his win among the paid ranks coming by way of stoppages.
Lucio also has a perfect record and has won all five of his outings, and Lambe said he hoped his opponent can bring the best out of him.
“I never have expectations, and every time I knock someone out, I am surprised myself,” he said. “I don’t go in there with any expectations and always have an open mind every time.
“Every time I prepare in camp, I always prepare to go the distance and I always prepare for the best opponent that I will get out of the person that I am going to fight.
“That’s why I never have expectations and that’s how it seems to work. I always expect it to be hard and to go the distance.”
Lambe ccurrently holds the American Boxing Federation welterweight belt after defeating Jose Ceja, another boxer from the U.S., by a unanimous decision last October.
