An East Canje Berbice hire car driver was yesterday found guilty at the High Court in Berbice on three counts of sexual activity with a child committed in 2020.
Basheer Mohamed also known as ‘Sugar’, appeared yesterday at the High Court in Berbice before Justice Navindra Singh where after summing up, a jury returned with a unanimous verdict of guilty on all three counts.
It is alleged that between August 1, 2020 and October 16, 2020 he engaged in sexual activity with the eleven-year-old. The other two counts were reportedly committed between October 16, 2020 and December 6, 2020, and December 7, 2020.
Mohamed will return to court on March 6, 2023 for sentencing.
