A man has been remanded to prison over the theft of three gold chains valued at $430,000.

Keron Wright, 23, yesterday appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court where the charges were read to him. The charges stated that on Wednesday, 21 December, 2021, at Lime Street, Georgetown, whilst in the company of another, and with a dangerous weapon – a gun, he robbed Juan Rosemay of 3 gold chains valued $430,000.

According to the prosecution, Juan Rosemay and the accused are known to each other. On the day in question, at about 12.30 hours, the victim was at home sweeping her yard, when she was confronted by Wright who pointed a gun in her face and relieved her of the three gold chains that were around her neck.

He then jumped on a motorcycle ridden by another male and they rode off. The victim reported the matter to the police and Wright was apprehended. He was told of the crime committed which he denied. However, he was identified in private CCTV footage and subsequently charged.

He pleaded not guilty to the offence and was remanded to prison until February 1.
