Biker succumbs after colliding with parked van at Foulis

Police are probing the death of a 22-year-old motorcyclist who collided with a van yesterday morning on the Foulis Access Road, East Coast Demerara.

He has been identified as Jevon Chappell of Section ‘D’, Non Pariel, East Coast Demerara. The incident involved motor van, GJJ 9493 and motorcycle, CK 648.

According to the police, Chappell was heading west along the southern side of Foulis Access Road, at high speed and whilst negotiating a turn, lost control and collided with the van which was parked on the western grass parapet facing east.

The owner of the van has not been identified but the vehicle was said not to be in working order at the time of the accident, the report added.

As a result of the collision, Chappell was flung through the window of the van and sustained injuries about his body.

Chappell was picked up in an unconscious condition and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival

The body was transferred to the hospital mortuary where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
