The 2023 Rawle Toney 3×3 Basketball Championship will be staged on March 18th-19th at the Burnham Basketball Court, Parade ground.

This was confirmed by an official release from the tournament organizer. According to the correspondence, the tournament will feature 16 clubs emanating from Linden, Bartica, Berbice, and Georgetown.

Several Caribbean teams have signaled their interest in possibly competing in the tournament, the release added.

Toney said, “The idea is to strengthen club basketball and since there are now two formats of the game, it is only fitting that clubs be given a chance to compete. It’s about also giving clubs some revenue.”

The combination of Harold Adams, Stanton Rose and Shelroy Thomas won the previous edition, walking away with the championship trophy and matching rings.

“Additionally, Adams, Rose, and Thomas represented Guyana at the Islamic Games in Istanbul, Turkey, and the FIBA 3×3 AmeriCup in Miami, Florida. Toney said other details regarding the tournament will be made available at the launch on February 1.

“Rawle Toney 3×3 Classic serves to give 3X3 basketball a platform in Guyana that’s unmatched by the conventional 5-v-5 format,” the release stated.
