Warren Williams, a 31-year-old clerk at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation and who resides at Herstelling East Bank Demerara, was arrested on Saturday night at Anna Catherina, West Coast Demerara, for the possession of 1,069.8 grams of cannabis.

According to a Guyana Police Force release, ranks from Regional Division #3, acting on information received, went to the side-line dam bus shed at Anna Catherina. West Coast Demerara, at about 21:40 hours Saturday night. There they observed Williams standing with a bulky plastic bag in his hands.

A police rank then took possession of the bulky black plastic bag which he opened in the presence of Williams and inside the plastic bag was a parcel wrapped in brown scotch tape.

A rank cut open the parcel in the presence of Williams, and inside was a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.

The suspect was then informed of the offence committed, cautioned, arrested and escorted to the Leonora Police Station where the cannabis was weighed and amounted to 1069.8 grams.

The suspect remains in custody and is slated to be charged, as further investigations continue.
