Prohibited immigrants allegedly involved in human trafficking – Benn

Minister of Home Affairs, Robeson Benn yesterday confirmed that the two immigrants against whom a prohibition order was issued earlier this month are allegedly involved in human trafficking.

An Interpol Red Notice was issued for one of the immigrants, Chaohui Lin.

“…. He is a wanted person in relation to the trafficking and smuggling of people,” Benn yesterday told Stabroek News in an invited comment.

Benn said the other individual, Kunbin Chen is a close associate of Chaohui Lin.

According to the Official Gazette, the prohibition order was issued by Benn on Monday January 9th.

It said that the purpose of the order was to declare Chaohui Lin, passport number EG134799 and Kunbin Chen passport number EB8442448 prohibited immigrants in accordance with Section 3(3) (b) of the Immigration Act, Chapter 14:02.

The order said that this was based on information that Chaohui Lin is wanted by Interpol pursuant to a Red Notice published on the 24th day of November, 2011 and information that Kunbin Chen is a close associate of Chaohui Lin and may be involved in similar criminal activities as Chaohui Lin.
