A fisherman of Bethany Canal, Pomeroon/ Supenaam, Region Two, is in police custody pending charges after being busted with ten (10) grammes of cannabis by a police patrol.

According to a police release, Ivan Hill, 38, was on Saturday found with ten grams of cannabis after being searched by ranks of Regional Police Division 2, in the vicinity of the Supenaam waterfront area on the Essequibo Coast.

The report stated that ranks had observed Hill acting suspiciously which prompted them to conduct a search of his person. They then discovered a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems, suspected to be cannabis, in a transparent plastic in his trousers pocket.

Hill was cautioned by the police and he told them that the suspected cannabis was his and he would use it.  He was arrested and taken to the Aurora Police Station. The suspected cannabis was weighed in Hill’s presence and amounted to ten (10) grammes.

Hill is presently in custody pending charges.
