Police building home for Berbice family under MOM initiative

A Berbice family of eight from the community of Elijiah Mary/ Little Africa, Corentyne will soon be enjoying the comfort of a new and furnished home as part of President Irfaan Ali’s ‘Men On Mission’ Initiative.

A Guyana Police Force [GPF] press release stated that the mission, which is being led by the GPF and backed by stakeholders in Region Six, has so far seen the ‘shack’ that the family resided in being demolished and an elevated one-storey, two bedroom house being constructed in its place. The two-bedroom home will feature a dining/living area, inside bath and toilet and will be furnished with all necessary amenities for the family of eight.

The GPF release said that Deputy Commissioner ‘Opera-tions’ (ag), Mr. Ravindradat Budhram, made a visit on Sunday, to inspect the ongoing works, and met with Comman-der of the Region, Senior Superintendent Shivpersaud Bacchus and his team along with the contractor, K.P Jagdeo and Engineer, Chandradeo Ghansham. Mr. Budhram was briefed on the ongoing construction works and was given a timeline when the house is expected to be completed.

Also present were Regional Vice-Chairman, Mr. Zamal Hussain and cricketer, Devindra Bishoo along with other stakeholders in the Region who have given their support to the initiative.
