Two men were yesterday placed on remand after they were charged with stealing a motorcycle from a BK security guard.

The charge against 22-year-old Christopher Fraser of Lot 17 South Ruimveldt and Musa Phillips, 22, of Lot 9 North Road alleges that between January 4th and 5th at Festival City, Georgetown, they stole a Honda XR 150 motorcycle valued at $500,000, property of BK Security.

According to the Prosecution, on January 4th at about 22:00hrs, a BK’s security guard, identified as Mr Harris, had just finished working and after performing the usual parking and securing of his bike in a  friend’s yard he went home, since, according to the prosecutor, there was no space in his yard.

Upon Harris’s return on January 5th at about 09:00hrs to uplift the bike to head to work, he discovered that it was missing. He immediately reported the matter to his superior who then activated a tracker that was on the bike which led them to Lot 3284 David Place, South Ruimveldt Park. The prosecution further said that when the police arrived at the location, they met with a female who informed them that Fraser placed the bike in her yard and told her that her child’s father said to park it there.

Additionally, further investigations led to police reviewing the CCTV cameras around David Place, South Ruimveldt Park which showed that Fraser was riding the motorcycle and upon approaching the yard, he then pushed it in. Shortly after, Phillips was seen riding a pedal cycle and he then picked up Fraser and rode away. The Prosecutor said that it was on January 19th at about 16:30hrs when both accused were apprehended by the police, and when told of the allegation, both admitted to committing the act.

However, while in court yesterday, Fraser denied the charge while Phillips pleaded guilty, and as a result, Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus decided to remand both accused until February 6th when the matter is expected to be called again.
