Owner of City Vibes Sports Bar and Lounge, Clyde Barrett, who was recently busted by the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU), yesterday appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court where he was remanded by Senior Magistrate Leron Daly.

The charge against 45-year-old Barrett also known as ‘Clivey’ of Callender Street, Albouystown, Georgetown, stated that on January 25 at Avenue of the Republic, he had in his possession 11.58 kilogrammes of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.

After pleading not guilty to the charge, the magistrate remanded the man to prison and adjourned the matter until February 24.

CANU in a release had said that their officers had intercepted a motorcar with a sole occupant along the Avenue of the Republic within the vicinity of City Hall last Wednesday and a subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a salt bag containing several parcels of suspected cannabis.

Barrett, along with the suspected narcotics were escorted to CANU headquarters. The narcotics tested positive for cannabis and had a total weight of 11.58 kilogrammes with a street value of approximately $3.5 million.
