There were no losers Sunday night. All of the Sportsmen and Women of the Year- awardees and their runners-up at the National Sports Commission’s National Sports Awards ceremony for the 2021-2022 period  at the National Cultural Centre, were, in our opinion, winners. The evening too was a resounding success and the fact that monetary incentives were given out for the first time in this nation’s history was the proverbial icing on the cake. Of course there will be some who felt that they should have won and maybe they should have, sometimes it’s just a matter of perspective.

But there’s always next year. There’s always room for improvement and once the necessary motivation is there the sky could be and should be the limit. The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, headed by the dynamic Charles Ramson Jnr., the Department of Sport , under Steve Ninvalle, Melissa Dow-Richardson and Franklin Wilson and the National Sports Commission, under Kashif Muhammad, can take a collective bow for a job well done. Kudos to them as they strive to make our sportsmen and women, a force on the international scene.
