Ramdhani makes it three-in-three with ACAC singles title

Top local badminton player, Narayana Ramdhani extended his dominance at  the Alberta Colleges’ Athletics Conference (ACAC) Badminton Tournament #3 after carting off with the spoils in the men’s singles and mixed doubles categories Sunday at King’s University, Edmonton, Alberta.

Ramdhani mimicked his performance in the first and second tournament as the King’s player won the Athlete-of –the-Year and all Canadian award following those achievements.

The number one seed gained a first-round bye before easily defeating Shepherd Dow 21-3, 21-6 in the quarter-finals. He then moved past Davis Wong 21-8, 21-8 to advance into the finals where he locked horns with Sanskar Chopra.

In a competitive clash, Ramdhani emerged victorious 21-16, 21-18.

Ramdhani then teamed up with his King’s University Eagles teammate, Abby Ledda to win the mixed doubles category.

The duo moved into the quarter-finals on a bye and made light work of Bhavya Chopra and Shayne Weise 21-6, 21-2. The pair then brushed aside Nam Nguyen and Sylvie Bibeau 21-4, 21-5 to advance into the finals.

The King’s combo lifted the title after beating Anirudh Sharma and Ivy Ung 21-11, 21-11.

Meanwhile, Ramdhani received a token of appreciation from his coach Naeem Haque for his contribution to the King’s badminton team for the past four years.

This latest competition was Ramdhani’s last on home court at King’s University before graduating this coming semester.
