Can I congratulate Guyana’s finest historiographer (and my friend) Professor Clem Seecharan on the Guyana Prize for his fine tome (with Ian McDonald) on Joe Solomon the cricketer. As ever, Clem has beavered away in the salt mines of the British Library on dusty Guianese newspapers and produced a rigorously researched piece of work. It deserves this and other prizes. Do buy it, do read it, do enjoy it
