Hard-Knocks, Underdogs, and Turf Kings recorded contrasting victories, when the maiden edition of the ‘Republic Classic Beach Football Championship’ continued on Tuesday at the Christianburg ground, Linden.

Hard-Knocks crushed Hustlers by a 9-4 score-line in the feature contest of the evening. Meanwhile, the Underdogs outfit overcame the Hi-Stars unit 3-2. Similarly, Turf Kings squeaked past Young Kings 4-3. In other results, Hustlers in their second match of the night, defeated Haynes Hardware (HH) Ballers 5-4.

Collis Gifth, coordinator of the championship during a brief comment said, “I think it has been well received so far given the fact that beach football hasn’t been played for such a long time. It’s a clear indication that people are excited to watch beach football and the turnout and the response has been beyond our expectation. We are looking forward to building on the remaining days of play and we will do everything possible to make it exciting. We are very happy with the response from the players, teams and more importantly the fans.”

The event continues tomorrow at the same venue with another round of group stage matches. At 18:30hrs, Young Kings will oppose Coomacka Mines, while Hard-Knocks battles HH Ballers at 19:00hrs, and Kwakwani Strikers will engage Underdogs from 19:30hrs.
