No one was this sister’s keeper

Dear Editor

The skeletal remains, supposedly of an elderly female resident of an EBE village, who, reports indicate, was last seen about seven months ago, is a sad case of a person dying all alone.  From the report it is alleged the elderly woman distanced herself from family members and, it seems, became reclusive. Whatever her reasons for doing this, did not negate family members from the responsibility of checking up on her. And what about the neighbours and community who must have realized she was not seen for some time and alert the family of her ‘absence’. No one was this sister’s keeper. Sad indeed. May she rest in peace.

Sincerely,

Shamshun Mohamed
