Three remanded over break-in at New Market St office

Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus yesterday remanded three men to prison on the charges of break and enter and larceny committed on an accounting company on New Market Street.

The charges read that Andrew Khan, a businessman of Cooper Street, Albouystown; Kelvin Nickle, a vendor of West Ruimveldt Housing Scheme and Odwin Lowenfield  of Cooper Street Albouystown broke and entered the ZAMCORP Accounting Building between March 15th and 16th at New Market Street and stole two computers valued at $375,000, two cellphones valued $200,000, two DVRs worth $120,000, USD$6,000, which is equivalent to $1,260,000, along with $20,000 in cash, property of Irshad Zamal.

The Administration of Justice Act was not applied on the three men when they appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court. The Police Prosecutor also objected to bail due to the prevalence of the matter and said that video footage shows the three men committing the act. The court was also informed by the Prosecutor that some of the items were recovered based on certain information given by the defendants.

The men who were all represented by Attorney Euclin Gomes were remanded to prison and the matter was adjourned until April 24th.
