These folks are worried that they have not received their Public Assistance voucher books yet

Dear Editor,

I have been contacted by two friends – one in Annandale and one at Tain – where the PPP votes’ farm live, to ask why their relatives have not received their Public Assistance voucher books as yet. We are soon entering April and these folks are worried.

I don’t know if this is a more widespread problem or just isolated cases. I had called the Ministry three weeks ago, and was told books will be distributed soon, that there was some glitch. I suggest the Ministry put out some bulletin explaining what’s happening with the books. Public Assistance recipients are the most vulnerable in the society. They receive pittances as benefits, but even such pittances are crucial to their survival.

So Minister, kindly light a fire under those responsible for late distribution of books. This is simply unacceptable. Our President Ali expects that all Ministries are functioning well and doing their jobs efficiently.

Sincerely,

Dr. Jerry Jailall
