The Flying Ace Cycle Club (FACC) of Berbice was yesterday the recipient of a quantity of cycling equipment from overseas-based Guyanese Mark Coleman.

Coleman made the donation to president of the Flying Ace Cycle Club Randolph Roberts yesterday at the National Gymnasium where the Caribbean U15 and U19 table tennis championships are being contested.

“I’ve been part of cycling for an extended period of time and I haven’t visited Guyana for some time. I’ve viewed an abundance of cycling going on Facebook and I felt the need, as I was returning, to bring some cycling equipment that I know that the youths can utilize,” said Coleman.

He added: “So I’m passing it on and hopefully it can get to the parties who do need them.”

Roberts, in brief remarks thanked Coleman for his benevolence and urged businesses to support the discipline.

“On behalf of the Flying Ace Cycle Club as the president of the club, I’d like to extend gratitude to Mr. Coleman for the contribution. We have a lot of young cyclists who need the kind of equipment Mr. Coleman has so generously donated. I’d like to urge business persons in Berbice and in the country as a whole, to come on board and support cycling because cycling is a very expensive sport.
