A couple is now homeless after a fire of unknown origin yesterday destroyed their concrete house at Liverpool, Corentyne.

Norman Thom, 39, a planter at the Albion Estate, of Lot 2 Liverpool Village, Corentyne, explained that he occupied the concrete structure with his wife.

He relayed that he left for work yesterday morning and around 9 am he received a call informing him that his house was engulfed in flames.

According to the man, when he arrived at the location the entire building had  already been destroyed.

He said, “By the time I meet home this is what I come and see. Everything burn down, only thing managed to save was the car.”

According to Thom,  it is suspected that the fire started in the front room of the premises where their clothing is usually stored.

He explained, that he also operated a small-scale poultry business and had about 100 chickens at the location, “only one chicken me seeing running around.”

He added, “You work hard in you lifetime and everything gone… You must feel sad” as he estimated millions in losses.

Thom, who is seeking the public’s assistance in rebuilding, can be contacted on telephone number 697-2324.
