A flurry of moves have been made by the Guyana Rugby Football Union to bolster its profile and its players.

According to the President of the body, Ryan Dey, Kit Nascimento, a former long standing head, has been appointed Patron once again.

Nascimento’s appointment coincides with former national player, Claudius Butts taking over the reins of head coach of the national 7s outfit.

Butts will be the man in charge of the play calling and getting his charges ready to play after former coach Theo Henry stepped down to prepare the team in another capacity. Henry, another former national standout player, was appointed as the strength and conditioning coach of the team, affectionately called the ’Green Machine’.

Further, former national captain Ryan Gonsalves along with Robin Roberts and Peter Campaign have been brought onboard as union advisors.

Dey also disclosed that the national U-19 ruggers are in training, gunning for the top honors in the Rugby Americas North (RAN) 7s Championship scheduled to be held in Jamaica in July. Dey further revealed that the team is being coached by Larry Adonis and managed by Sherlock Sam.
