A Palmyra, Corentyne businessman was on Monday evening placed into custody following the discovery of a bond of illegal liquor at his business premises.

Commander of Region Six, Shivpersaud Bacchus on Tuesday confirmed that Jeffrey Mootoo was in custody over uncustomed goods.

Mootoo, 55, is the owner of the HOMMEE Hospitality Hotel and Bar located at Lot 50 Palmyra Public Road.

According to Bacchus, the police and a Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) officer found a quantity of uncustomed alcoholic beverages including wines and whisky.
