Buxton clinch berth to Youth Basketball East Coast Conference final

Buxton Secondary defeated Cummings Lodge 11-4 in the semifinal round to seal their berth to the East Coast Demerara divisional final yesterday in the Youth Basketball Guyana Regional Conference Championships.

Hosted at the President’s College hard-court, Compton Hope tallied four points and six rebounds for the victor, whilst Osei Bess supported with figures of three points and six rebounds. Buxton United will now oppose President’s College in the final on June 22nd.

Meanwhile, President’s College defeated Marian Academy 29-19 in an inter-conference matchup. Ronoko Vaughn tallied 13 points and six rebounds, whilst Aiden Semple added six points and four rebounds. For the loser, Kaden Khan tallied six points and three rebounds, whilst Marian Fiedtkou added five points and as many rebounds. In the East Bank section, undefeated Covent Garden will battle Diamond Secondary for the coveted divisional title following semi-final wins on Wednesday.

Staged at the Covent Garden Secondary School hard-court, Covent Garden blanked Houston Secondary 55-0. Jonathan Giddings recorded figures of 23 points, nine rebounds, and six steals, whilst Amaan Yusuf supported with a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds. In the other semi-final encounter, Diamond Secondary downed Camille’s Academy 40-25. Benkite King led the way for the victor with 18 points, eight rebounds and four assists. He was supported by the duo of Eion Tappin and Andrew Cameron who scored 10 and eight points respectively.

For the loser, Shane Ally amassed 15 points, four rebounds and four steals, whilst Faud Bacchus was the next best scorer with seven points and six rebounds.
