Man killed by hit-and-run driver at Little Diamond, another dies in fiery crash at Bush Lot

A man was killed by a hit-and-run driver at Little Diamond, East Bank Demerara (EBD) last night and another died in a fiery crash at Bush Lot, Essequibo this morning.

 

The police say that at about 8.40 pm yesterday, HB 6038 driven by Dinesh Ramsingh, 37, of Cummings Lodge fatally struck pedestrian Joshua  Madanlall of Lot 213 Second Street # 2 Village East Canje Berbice.

 

The police said that the driver of hire car #HB 6038 refused to stop and continued further south  attempting to flee the scene of the accident, however he was apprehended by public-spirited citizens on Seventh Avenue Diamond EBD, arrested and taken to the Little Diamond Police Outpost along with his vehicle.

 

A Notice of Intended Prosecution was served on the driver of hire car #HB 6038 after a breathalyzer test was conducted on him and he was found to have 94 micrograms and 93 micrograms of alcohol in his system which is above the prescribed limit of 35 micrograms, the police said.

 

Meanwhile, this morning 19-year-old Mario Adams of Lot 45 Lima Sands died after the car he was driving at Bush Lot Public Road ran into a utility pole and burst into flames.

 

Also in the vehicle and injured were 32-year-old Troy Ross of Lot 52 La Belle Alliance, Lima Sands, Essequibo Coast and 21-year-old Dean Cortman of Lima Sands, Essequibo Coast who were injured. Another male who was in the vehicle fled the scene, the police said.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The police say that at about 2040h yesterday on Little Diamond New Access Road East Bank Demerara, HB 6038 driven by 37-year-old Dinesh Ramsingh of lot 184 South East Cummings Lodge East Coast Demerara, a parked white motorcar PRR 440 (owner, driver’s name and address  unknown) and 33-year-old deceased pedestrian Joshua  Madanlall of lot 213 Second Street # 2 Village East Canje Berbice.
