Secondary students work-study attachment launched in city

The Department of Education Georgetown announced on Thursday, the launch of the first phase of its Work- Study Attachment for 2023, a release from the Ministry of Education stated yesterday.

Students who were selected for this phase attended an orientation session that was conducted at Queen’s College,  a release from the Ministry of Education stated on Friday.

 According to the release, the work-study attachment will be done in two phases. Phase 1 which runs from June 26 to July 21, and Phase 2 which runs from July 24 to August 18.

It further explained that work-study attachment provides learners with the opportunity of being exposed to the world of work, where they can be taken through the process of career awareness, career exploration, and other life skill experiences.

The release said that some 150 students from across secondary schools in the Georgetown Education District have been placed at various agencies across Guyana including the Ministry of Education, Guyana Defence Force, Ministry of Human Services and Social Security, Ministry of Home Affairs, Supreme Court of Judicature, National Insurance Scheme, and the Guyana Fire Service.

Also present at the orientation were Principal Education Officer, Immanuel Bridgewater; Education Officer (Secondary), Colwyn Delph; and several Work Study Field Officers, Bynoe, Monplazir, David, Thomas, and Stanley, the release added.
