Trio jailed for robbery spree and abduction

Three men were on Monday last each sentenced to serve a total of nine years imprisonment after they were found guilty of two counts of armed robbery and the abduction a taxi driver back in August 2022.

According to the facts of the case, on August 18, 2022, 18-year-old Emmanuel Hale, 32-year-old Hamza Samuels called ‘Bad Coolie’, and Rawle Franklin called ‘Mad Max’ in the company of others at Ogle, East Coast Demerara robbed Madan Ramdeo of a cell phone and cash, valued a total of $73,000.

On the same date, at Red Road, Sophia, Georgetown, they robbed Jenny Mingo of a quantity of items valued at $293,000. Also on the same date, at Vryheid’s Lust, East Coast Demerara, they robbed Joshua Singh of his $1.7 million Toyota Allion motorcar, along with his cellphone and cash. The three men were each sentenced to five years in prison on the abduction charge, and five years per count on the three armed robbery charges. However, one year was deducted for the time they spent on remand.

The robbery sentences will run concurrently while the abduction sentences will be consecutive which means that each of the men will serve a total of nine years imprisonment.
