President describes US `as our most strategic and valued partner’

President Irfaan Ali has described the  United States as Guyana’s “most strategic and valued partner”.

In a message to US President Joseph Biden on the 247th anniversary of the country’s independence, Ali  said: “As we continue to engage at the bilateral, regional and multilateral levels on national and international issues of mutual interest and concern, my government remains committed to deepening cooperation with the United States of America as our most strategic and valued partner.  The high-level interactions between our two states more recently form an integral part of this process as we build on and advance a bilateral agenda that would redound to the benefit of our countries”.

 US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is due here on Thursday July 6, 2023 to meet with President Ali, Foreign Minister Hugh Todd and key members of the Cabinet. It will be the second visit of a US Secretary of State in less than three years. US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo visited in September 2020.
