Region Seven police ranks on mobile patrol duty on Monday discovered a single-barrel shotgun and 12 gauge cartridge in a Karibee rice bag at Lime Tree Backdam, Cuyuni River.
A police report stated that at about 16.30 hours on Monday, three police ranks were on mobile patrol duty at Lime Tree Backdam, Cuyuni River, Region 7, when the ranks observed a man with a Karibee rice bag in his hand with a metal object protruding from the bag.
The ranks became suspicious and attempted to confront the man. When he saw the police approaching, the man dropped the rice bag and ran into the nearby bushes. The ranks gave chase but were unable to apprehend him. Police took possession of the bag and discovered a single-barrel shotgun and one 12-gauge cartridge.
Investigations are in progress.
