The reason our roadways are in a chaotic state

Dear Editor,

Kindly advise me whether there is such a word as “WAIT” in the dictionary. As far as I am aware the meaning of wait is: stay where one is or delay action until a particular time or event. For some reason, I get the impression that the word was omitted as no one in Guyana seem to be aware that there is such a word and everyone is in a hurry. This is the reason that our roadways are in a chaotic state. Drivers coming out from side streets onto the public road or freeway turn out in front of you because they are not able to wait.

I would like to suggest to the traffic department of the Guyana Police Force that signs marked ‘WAIT’ are placed at strategic points on our roadways. Apart from the fact that our roadways were not designed to accommodate so many vehicles, drivers still need to exercise more patience and adhere to the five (5) C’s in driving:  care, caution, consideration, common sense & courtesy.

Sincerely,
