Collision between two bikers in Kaburi leaves one dead, the other critical

A collision between two motorcyclists at Number 72 Miles, Kaburi, Region Seven, has left one dead and the other, a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital(GPH) suffering from a fractured skull.

Dead is Leroy Richards, a 53-year-old security guard of Number 72 Village, Kaburi, owner and rider of motorcycle, CK 4766. Injured is Maric Hendricks, an 18-year-old of Number 72 Miles Village Kaburi, owner and rider of an unregistered motorcycle.

Enquiries revealed that Richards was riding north along the trail at a slow speed while Hendricks was proceeding in the opposite direction at a fast rate. Hendricks lost control of his motorcycle and collided head-on with Richards.

The two motorcycles after the accident

As a result of the collision, both motorcyclists sustained serious injuries. They were picked up in an unconscious condition by public-spirited persons and conveyed to the Bartica Regional Hospital, where Richards was pronounced dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, Hendricks was treated for a fractured skull and then transferred to GPH where his condition is regarded as serious.

The matter is under investigation.
